The 2003 NAPA/ASE Technician of the Year is the first quintuple ASE Mater technician to be chosen. Stephen Powell was selected by a panel of industry judges from twenty finalists representing some of the best technicians working in NAPA Auto-Care shops across the nation. His shop, Thoroughbred Transmissions has been part of the Blue Seal Excellence program since 1998. Stephen’s qualifications include achieving Master status in Automobile, Truck, Truck Equipment, School Bus and Engine Machinist categories. Being chosen as Tech of the Year is one of the highest honors in the NAPA organization. “Stephen is one of only 138 ASE-certified technicians in the world who hold five or more Master designations, and we’re pleased he has been chosen to represent both NAPA and ASE for the coming year,” said ASE President Ronald H. Weiner.
